Favourite Things.

With the summer holidays here things have been rather hectic. I have loved spending more time with my girls but now I'm looking forward to getting back to work and resuming normal service in September!

So for this weeks blog I thought id gather together some of my favourite creations.

1.

I'll start with this one as its one of the first cards I made after becoming a demonstrator.   I used the Eastern Beauty stamp set and the Eastern Medallions Thinlits.   I used the 2017-2019 in colours on a very vanilla base.

Although the basic idea behind the card is fairly simple I was very proud of this one as it was probably the most complicated card I had made at that point and it was an idea I had come up with myself rather than CASEing something.

2.

This card is much more recent and uses the Graceful Glass Suite.  I was lucky enough to bring home the designer Vellum after OnStage in April, so naturally I ordered the rest of the suite and got crafting. This was also the first time I had really used the Stampin' Blends and I was so happy with how this card came out!

3.

My final card is another 1st for me.  A z fold card.  I'd seen lots of pictures of these but had never tried one myself so, armed with plenty of card I found a tutorial on YouTube and set to work making the card base.

I decided to use the Animal Expedition suite because I wanted an excuse to play with the gorgeous DSP.  I rather like how it came out!

4.  On to something different,  3D items.  In the last year I've made one or 2 Boxes or other 3D items, mostly following tutorials or as make and takes at team events but for this I was flying blind!  The moment I saw the Designer Vellum in the graceful glass suite I knew I had to make a tealight lantern to showcase it.  I am so happy with the result as I had no instructions for this at all and had to work out the right dimensions to work with the paper!

I love how this turned out, and it looks amazing in the dark with a (battery operated) tea light!

5.    This next one is also something I worked out on my own.  I had done boxes before but hadn't seen one like this.

I used the Natures poem DSP combined with the detailed with love stamp set.

I'm sure that someone out there has been making boxes like this for years, but the reason it's here on my favourite's list is because I was able to work it out for myself.

6.   And finally, a scrapbook page.  Now that may not seem very exciting but I haven't done a lot of scrapbooking before, and those I have done have been in classes.  This came about because of an idea I had for the Stamperatus!
I had seen people making templates to allow them to stamp a wreath or perfect circle with the Stamperatus, and I even followed a tutorial to make my own.  After playing with this for a while I began to wonder if it was possible to do the same for 12x12 card?

After a bit of research, I couldn't find any indication that it had been attempted so I challenged myself to make one!

So now I had a template I needed to use it, and this is what I came up with.

This page uses the Colourful Seasons, Animal Outing and Pick a Pennant stamp sets and the Animal friends and seasonal layers dies.  I love this for 2 reasons, 1 because its exactly what I had in my head when I first tackled the template and 2, because its my daughters first picture!

I hope you've enjoyed this look at some of my favourite creations over the past 18 months and if you are interested in any of the products I've used then please, get in touch or head over to my website at  lilacdaisycrafts.stampinup.net

Colour Combo Blog Hop August 2018

Welcome to my project for the Colour Combo Blog Hop for August.  we've been challenged to use Pool Party,  Blackberry Bliss and Merry Merlot.

This is my first blog hop and it certainly proved challenging!  Blackberry Bliss is one of my absolute favourite colours so I was happy about that colour being included,  but I've not really used Pool Party or Merry Merlot much so they needed a little more thought.

This is what i came up with.

I used a Whisper White card base and stamped the happy birthday from Picture Perfect Birthday around the edge in Blackberry Bliss.  I stamped the streamers from Birthday Backgrounds in Pool Party

I used the Stitched Shapes Framelits and the Starburst punch to cut out the top elements from Pool Party, Merry Merlot and Whisper White card and stamped the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss.
After putting the card together I felt the 2 starbursts needed something extra so I added some faceted gems in blackberry bliss which lifted the whole card.

Using this combination really pushed me to think about how I use colours.  I found combining the Blackberry Bliss and Pool Party easy but the Merry Merlot was a bit more tricky.  I definitely need to use this colour more.

I hope this has inspired you to use colours you wouldn't normally reach for!

Now follow the link below and see what Tricia Butts created with these colours!

Dragonfly Dreaming!

This weeks card uses the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.

This was one of the sets I chose with my starter kit when I joined Stampin' Up! so it has a special place in my heart.  I cased this card from an idea I saw on Pintrest ( I have forgotten who's design inspired it, but thank you for the inspiration!)

I used Flirty Flamingo and Blushing Bride on a Whisper White base.

The measurements are,

  • Thick Whisper White base,  cut at 21 x 14.8 cm. Scored at 10.5 cm.
  • Flirty Flamingo, cut at 10 x 14.3 cm.
  • Whisper White, cut at 10 x 14.3 cm and 9.5 x 13.8 cm.
  • Blushing Bride and Flirty Flamingo for die cutting.

I used the Stitched Shape thinlits to cut the circle, but a circle punch could be used for the same effect.

To do the spot effect across the centre of the card I used a stamp from the Perennial Birthday stamp set.  Dragonfly Dreams has a spotty stamp but I don't feel it works for this card.

I also added a stamped layer to the inside of the card.  To give it extra depth I drew around the edge with a Stampin Write marker.  This creates an illusion of en extra layer of colour without making the card too bulky.
This is a useful trick and I have used it before to great effect.

I also used Wink of Stella on the dragonfly.  This adds a lovely sparkle which, although it doesn't show up in these photos, I hope you can see it in the video.  Wink of Stella is a perfect accent for many designs, and who doesn't love a little sparkle!

I hope you like this card and if you'd like to know how to get the products I used then leave a comment below or head over to my website at www.lilacdaisycrafts.stampinup.net

Global Design Project #148

The remit for this project was to CASE the designer.
{for those of you who don't know Case means, Copy And Selectively Edit}

I've just taken delivery of some new DSP so what better opportunity to use it?

To make this card I used a Soft Sea Foam card base and the Garden Impressions DSP.

I fussy cut 2 flowers from one piece.   The sentiment comes from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set
using Melon Mambo ink.
The circle is cut from whisper white using the Stitched  Shape framelits, layered on Melon Mambo cut with the Starburst Punch.

Hope you like it.

Delightful Daisies!

Hi everyone.

For this weeks video I made  a card using the Daisy Delight stamp set.

The DSP that went with this suite retired with the last annual catalogue so for this card I had a go at making my own.

To do this I used a selection of the smaller stamps from the set and played around with them.  I stamped in Berry Burst, Powder Pink, Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive on a sheet of Whisper White which I then cut to size for the card I had in mind.

I had a lot of fun doing this so expect to see more examples of this in the furture!

The card sizes for this project are,

Thick Whisper White card base.  21 x 14.8 cm.  Scored at 10.5 cm.
2 pieces of Whisper White,  1, 12.3 x 8 cm.
                                              2, 7.5 x 2.5 cm.
Piece of DSP. 10 x 14.3 cm.

Whisper White scrap, enough for 2 daisies, 2 leaves and a flower centre.

I also used the Daisy Punch and the 1/2 inch circle punch.
and Inks,  Berry Burst.
                 Lemon Lime Twist.
                 Tranquil Tide.
                 Crushed Curry.

I hope you liked this project,  It's really versatile as you can mix it up buy using different colours and by really going wild with the DSP!

If you are interested in finding out more about Stampin' Up! or the products i've used please leave me a comment or pop by my website.

Happy crafting.

12x12 Stamperatus Template.

Last year Stampin' Up! unveiled the Stamperatus.  This amazing stamp positioning tool has been really well received but, as is the nature of crafters, we have all been pushing forward to find out what else we can do with it.

Many people have started using templates to allow them to stamp in circles / wreaths around a piece if card stock.

Last week i made my own template following a tutorial by Ruth at Artful Stamping and while i was experimenting with it i started to think.

Had anyone come up with a template to allow us to do a wreath stamp technique directly onto 12x12 card stock for scrapbooking?

After a bit of searching and some questions in some demonstrator groups it seemed like the answer was NO, so i found some scrap paper and set to work!

I knew the basics of what i needed to do so i scaled up.  I taped some paper together and got out a sheet of 12x12 and followed the first step of the process and drew round it in the first 2 positions.

I then measured the diagonal length from the centre to the point and marked this through the crossover of the 2 squares to find the positions for the next 2.

This gave me the same number of turns as my small template but i felt that with such a large circle it might be useful to have more positions to utilise so i used the same method to put in 4 more squares, which i drew in a different colour.

After transferring this to acetate and trying it out i realised that when positioning the stamp it almost completely fell off the edge at certain points so i went back to the drawing board.
Through trial and error i settled on 9x9 and drew a second set of squares inside the first.

I then added this to my acetate template. you will notice that i have used alternating colours. this is so that i can easily see where i need to move the card too if I'm only using the larger spaced positions.

I also marked the same point on each layer just to ensure everything was in the same place!

Then it was time to get the stamps out!

This is stamped using all the marked positions.

And this page just used the blue marked positions!

I will definitely be using this a lot. If you check out the video that i did you can see how it works!

I am putting together a document with detailed directions on how to create and use this template so if you want to know more drop me a line!

Birthday Backgrounds with the Stamperatus!

It's video time again!

For this weeks video i wanted to give you a look at the Stamperatus so i decided to use a card i made as a swap at a recent team event.

I wanted to showcase the new in colours and also challenge myself by using a stamp set that is, as the name suggests, backgrounds.

The main part of the card uses all 5 colours and then i varied the main colour on each.
The sentiment came from the Detailed with Love stamp set.

The measurements are as follows,

Thick Whisper White card base, 21 x 14.8 cm scored at 10.5cm.
Whisper White cut at 8.5 x 13 cm  and 5 x 2 cm.
In Colour DSP cut at 2.5 x 5.5 cm.

I love how easy the Stamperatus makes multiple stamping and its fabulous for multi step stamping.

Let me know what you think of the video and if you want any further information leave a comment or drop by my online shop!

Detailed With Love Video!

So my latest video has been out for  a few days and I thought it was about time I got some of the details down!!

I used the Delightfully Detailed suite and one of the returning colours, Blackberry Bliss!
I'm so happy that this colour is back so expect to see more of it here and in my videos!

To make this card I cut a Thick Very Vanilla card base, cut to 21 x 14.8cm and scored at 10.5cm.
A piece of very vanilla for the sentiment that measures 7 x 4 cm and a piece of Blackberry Bliss 10 x 14.3 cm.

I also used the amazing Delightfully Detailed Laser Cut Specialty Paper. This comes as an 8 pack of 12 x 12 inch sheets. 4 each of 2 designs and each sheet is whisper white on one side and very vanilla on the other!

I have to say that the pictures of this paper in the catalog really don't do it justice.

As you will see in the video it is incredibly delicate and fiddly to work with but it is definately worth the effort!  it can also be coloured in so expect to see it showing up again in the future!
